The Modus family office technology map (below) is a visualization of software and services utilized by single-family offices.
The map was inspired by the long-running Kitces.com Financial Advisor Technology Map, which includes several categories, more than two dozen subcategories, and over 200 different companies. The Kitces.com and Modus maps share some categories, but others on the Kitces.com map are less relevant to family offices (prospecting, digital onboarding, client meeting support), or are absent and important to many family offices (accounting).
This is the first version of the Modus family office technology map. It is incomplete and should be considered a living document. Many additions and changes can be expected, especially in the near term. Modus will strive to update it frequently and make it as helpful as possible to family offices, consultants, current and prospective investors in the companies on the map, and other stakeholders.
Should the map only include software that is focused on a specific task or category? Many companies offer family offices a long list of services that span categories — what’s a helpful way to show that?
Modus has ideas, but suggestions for the map — including companies or categories that should be added, how they are presented, or any other ideas — are encouraged.
Recommendations should be emailed to Modus editor Michael Thrasher: michael.thrasher@modus.news.
The map is not an endorsement of these companies by Modus. Their inclusion has no influence on Modus’s journalism.
Companies will never pay to be part of the Modus map. Any software or service that claims to work with single-family offices will be considered.
